GM Free Australia - April 2012

OBDA committee members Graeme Schultz, Monika Fiebig and Gavin Dunn attended the GM Free Australia meeting at the Box Factory Community Centre on February 8th to get a better perspective on the issues surrounding the production of GM crops in Australia and the impact they may have on our food systems. Again, Dr Judy Carman was on hand to share her insights, her passion and commitment to keeping SA GMO–free, and was inspiring. We affirm our State Government’s decision to maintain a moratorium on the introduction of Genetically Modified Organisms into and we believe this will provide enormous benefits to consumers who want to buy and consumer GMO-free food and for our farmers whose produce can be marketed to a world actively seeking safe food.

The GM-Free Australia Alliance as part of its continuing advocacy for a GM free Australia, held a public forum on April 16, 2012 at the Box Factory Community Centre. Why GM-free SA? Forum with Nick Xenophon 16 April.

OBDA News - OBDA LogoWebsite Launched

Newly founded organic group, the Organic & B-D Alliance launched its new website. The group was created out of a need to help growers and consumers to communicate. OBDA creates a chance for growers to let consumers know how their food is produced, and for consumers to talk directly with growers about what is important to them about the attributes of the food they consume.

We hope the website will help us to meet our objective of “linking growers to consumers”.
